Were you in the audience groovin’ at American Pie, the Magical History Tour? Maybe you were one of the performers or musicians! Or maybe you were one of the dozens of other people who help put on this terrific experience every year. Even if you weren’t ever able to attend or participate, you probably still remember it is a rock ‘n’ roll show that features local students combined with a fun history lesson rolled into one fabulous night.
It began in 1985 as Mr. Niespodziani’s classroom history lesson, using rock songs to illustrate significant events and trends, as well as demonstrate how events and trends influenced popular music. It became so popular it was moved out of the classroom and onto the stage, and over 40 years later, it is still going strong.
We invite everyone to Rock On! and come enjoy a walk down memory lane at American Pie. Talented high school singers, dancers and musicians re-create the styles and tunes from decades of rock and roll, all set to skits, dances, and commentary about the events that shaped the artists as well as the audiences.
This year’s show starts at 7 p.m. on May 1 at Columbus North High School’s Erne Auditorium. Student tickets are $5. Adult tickets are $15 until April 25th; they are $20 thereafter. Legacy pass holders may reserve tickets online, too.
