On August 2nd, roughly 150 teachers and administrators gathered at Columbus North High School for “Teacher’s First Day”.  This was the first day of a new school year for teachers, the day before students arrived for their first day.  There was a great deal to discuss – with a new organization structure to understand (see Mr. Clark’s article about the new “cohort” resources) – and many colleagues, new and …uh… “experienced”, to welcome back to CNHS.

Your Bull Dog Alumni Association participated in the “Welcome Back” festivities with a very brief presentation to teachers about who we are and what we try to do to make their jobs easier and more fulfilling.  We presented each teacher, administrator, and teaching assistant (190 in all) with a Welcome Back gift package that included a Royal Blue polo shirt embroidered with the CN logo and our Teacher Appreciation slogan: “Great Teachers make Great Bull Dogs!”  as well as a Royal Blue sling-back bag packed with useful stuff – from water bottles and note pads to sunglasses and fresh-baked cookies – donated by some of our program sponsors.

Twenty teachers that were new to CNHS this fall also received a “new teacher” tote bag that included over $100 worth of gift certificates that we thought would be helpful to teachers that are new to the classroom and/or new to the community.
