Can you believe it’s been 50 years since 513 vivacious young adults in the Columbus North Class of 1975 accepted their diplomas in Memorial Gymnasium?
Make your plans now to return to Columbus, reminisce about the good times (at our age it’s easy to forget about the not-so-good ones) – and celebrate the Golden Anniversary of our graduation with some of your classmates!
The Class of ’75 is planning a fun-filled weekend of reunion activities on August 29th and 30th for any and all ’75 grads (and their significant others – should they choose to tag along). Some events are still in the planning stages, but here are the likely opportunities for Reunion-ing:
The Main Event
Our Keynote Reunion event will be an informal gathering at the Hotel Indigo (400 Brown Street in downtown Columbus) from 5:00 PM until 11:00 PM on Saturday, August 30th:
- There will be “heavy” hors d’oeuvres available beginning at 5:00 PM.
- There will be a reserved ballroom plus indoor and outdoor tables and seating available for snacking, mingling and conversation – and a cash bar for the exclusive use of our class.
- There will be a photo backdrop and photographer to commemorate your small group reunions – and we hope to take a large group photo at 7:00 PM.
- We will have a DJ to provide a musical backdrop for our festivities – playing the hits we remember from the 1970’s – and more contemporary tunes to tempt you on to the dance floor.
- The admission price for the main Reunion event will be $25 per person. You can reserve your place(s) and pay for your ticket(s) in advance by using the Registration button below. For the registration form on EventBrite please use the password: ToddRundgren
- Several 50th Reunion classes in the past have made a class donation to a worthy cause in the community. The Class of 1975 has an opportunity to be a “founding donor” in Love Chapel’s new Capital Fund aimed at adding additional capacity for food, shelter, and other support services for those in our community in need of assistance. Please visit this link for more detailed information about Love Chapel and its needs and mission. While a donation to Love Chapel is optional, we think this is a great chance for our class to do something special for the Columbus Community.
- We have arranged with Hoosier Sporting Goods for an on-line store for Class of 1975 Reunion polo shirts and T-shirts. Use this link: https://hsg.tuosystems.com/stores/north1975reunion to view, order, and pay for these exclusive Columbus North Class of 1975 shirts. They are available in all sizes and two color combinations at our special Reunion prices of $25 per polo shirt and $15 – $20 per T-shirt. (Small upcharge for order handling and exceptionally large sizes). Order by August 15th for pick-up on August 28th or later.
- We are expecting a good turnout for the Reunion. As of July 22nd, we have heard from dozens of classmates/spouses that are planning to attend. 58 folks have already purchased their tickets. Reserve and buy your ticket(s) today at Reunion Reservations/Tickets. Remember, you can purchase your reunion tickets online for $25 but they will cost $30 at the door on August 30th! Note: You can see the names of classmates who have already purchased their tickets here.
- We are making fantastic progress in our efforts to make an incredibly significant class donation to the Love Chapel Capital Fund. We have already received over $13,000 in donations and pledges from 18 generous classmates. Our goal of $25,000 is within reach! You can use our Eventbrite link to donate: Reunion Reservations/Tickets or visit Love Chapel Class of 1975 donation to make a direct online donation.
- Don’t forget to contact David Welmer at welmerdavid182@gmail.com if you would like to play golf at Otter Creek on Friday, August 29th. David says our groups will tee off beginning at noon and we will play a scramble format – so players of all skill levels can enjoy the afternoon.
- Contact Natalie Olinger-Stine at natalie1957@sbcglobal.net if you would like to play pickleball on Saturday morning. Natalie is coordinating with East Class of 1975 Pickleball players, and it looks like courts at Donner Park will be reserved for 7:30 AM on August 30th (plenty of time to get to the school tour and/or take a nap before the Reunion at Hotel Indigo).
- If you have questions or suggestions about the reunion, feel free to email us at CNHS.1975.reunion@gmail.com or text/call Rob Bush at (317) 513-0070.
As further details are solidified, we will post them on our Class of 1975 Facebook page!

- We need your help tracking down classmates that are lost – or hiding. You can find a list of classmates that we do not have email addresses for Here. If you can reach anyone on this list, please forward this email to them – or send their contact information to our email address (cnhs.1975.reunion@gmail.com).
- Note 1: We know that some of the folks on this list have received reunion information from other sources, but we would still like to get their email info, so that we can contact them with last minute updates and/or for future events.
- Note 2: At the reunion, we will recognize (and buy a drink or two) for the person (or persons) who adds the most emails to our contact list!
As noted earlier, planning details are still fluid. If you have ideas or concerns, please email us at cnhs.1975.reunion@gmail.com. Also, to help us plan for food and space requirements, please email us at that same email address if you are planning to attend or make your reservations at the Eventbrite link: CNHS Class of 1975 Reunion Reservations/Tickets. And check our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/groups/1606647896258531/ often for updates and more details.
Hope to see you soon!
Class of 1975 50th Reunion Committee
P.S. Please pass this on to your 1975 classmates – our contact information is out of date for many. We will send out a listing of classmates that we don’t have good email addresses for in the next 2 weeks.
Decision Transparency
Here are some notes about some of the reunion decisions that have been made that might not please everyone.
Ticket Price – Our ticket price of $25/person does not cover all our costs. Catering alone will cost more. Last year’s 50th Reunion for the Class of 1974 was also held at Hotel Indigo and got great reviews. Their ticket price was $50 for a pretty similar set of reunion activities. However, to make sure that a higher ticket price will not dissuade any classmate from attending, a few of our generous classmates have pledged to cover any shortfall. If you would like to contribute more than the subsidized ticket price, please consider making an optional contribution to Love Chapel.
Date of Reunion – No date is perfect for everyone and we know many folks have pre-existing commitments on Labor Day weekend. At our 40th reunion we announced that the 50th reunion would be held on the weekend of the North/East football game, which we have honored. Columbus East HS is having their reunion on the same day as North, in a facility nearby named the Forge on 4th – so both classes will have the opportunity to visit with friends from the other school.
Other Costs – For those that choose to participate in the Friday afternoon golf outing, the $65 fee is a discount to Otter Creek’s normal greens fees – and goes 100% to the golf course. Pickleball will be played at a public venue and will have no cost. Pictures will be taken throughout our reunion, then made available to classmates online where a few may be ordered for a small charge.
Comments or Concerns – Some details are fluid, so you may still be able to communicate and influence our event, especially if there is some additional activity you would like to make happen. Send your suggestions to the class email address (CNHS.1975.reunion@gmail.com). You are also welcome to call this year’s chair, Rob Bush, at (317) 513-0070.
