Jane Dutton

Jane is a graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music in 1988, a Master’s degree in Music from Indiana University in 1992, and an Artist’s Diploma at Yale University in 1995. She is a professor of Music (Voice) at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where many of her students have achieved awards in a variety of competitions and have started their own professional singing careers.

Jane has sung in many of the top opera houses in the world, such as the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, English National Opera in London, and the New York City Opera, first as a mezzo-soprano, and now as a dramatic soprano. She has made appearances with the New York Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony, RTE National Symphony (Ireland), Prague Radio Symphony and the Indianapolis Symphonic Orchestra, to name a few.

Jane has performed in over 25 U.S. regional opera houses in more than 30 different major roles. She has been a finalist in the Placido Domingo Operalia World Competition, while earning awards in numerous other competitions, such as the McAllister Competition, Opera Index and Puccini Foundation. Finally, she has been a sololist with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic and has led numerous master classes and workshops with Columbus area vocal students since 2006.
